Finding a book that's hard to put down is among my little pleasures in life. Thank you Suzanne Collins for your brilliant work. At the end of each chapter I'm left wanting more. It was really hard to put her Hunger Games series down. As I started reading the Hunger Games, people gave me their differing opinions on the series.
Here's my opinion(I won't go into detail for people who haven't finished reading): I really liked the first book for its fast-paced action-filled journey with its hint of romance. The second book started off slower than what I've gotten used to, but it did pick up its pace again. It had a pretty good ending. I finished reading the third book last night. Like the first book it took me three days. The third is a bit different than the first two. The pace slowed down more than the second. The overall ending of the series was heavy but satisfactory enough. I say heavy, because as I was reading it, I felt like I was being weighed down. It's a weird way to describe it, but I don't know how else to say it.
The uniformity all three had was the gore and violence. After I finished reading last night, I slept with the lights on in hopes that the things I read in the book didn't follow me in my sleep. I'm still a softie in that way. I really appreciated this book series. I hope to get into another good one.
Sidenote: I've always liked the boy with the bread. Team Peeta :)
