Hope in Christ

Keep moving forward.

Every new year I usually have some sort of mantra I try to live by. For 2017 it's keep moving forward. The past is in the past and it can't be changed. Our gaze should be in the future.

This past year I've come across other sayings that I've said a lot but haven't really stopped and thought what they practically meant. They've become so familiar that I was a stranger to their meaning. One of them is putting your hope in Christ. That saying is what every Christian is expected to do, so I took the time to break it down and see how I could actually live by it. I had to work backwards by seeing what it meant to put your hope in things other than Christ, such as money, job, relationships, etc.

In the end I'm able to say that to put your hope in Christ means:
1. Trusting in His will for my life (instead of trusting in my plans/surrendering control)
2. Making Him the source of my joy and happiness (treasuring Christ above all)
3. Finding security in Him (not on a good career or good health)
4. Placing my worth and value in what He's done for me (rather than on what others think of me)
