Freedom in Surrender

I'm the kind of person who likes to know what's going to happen. It gives me a sense of control. When things unforeseen or unaccounted for happen, it really throws me off. In this life though this kind of control is impossible to maintain. God will always throw you a curve ball. I must realize only He is in control.

What He wants of me is to surrender and submit. Sometimes as Christians we forget how good God is. We think Him stingy or no fun, but in the Bible it says that His ways are better and His thoughts are higher than ours. In my life, I was holding on so tightly to something I thought I could control, something I wanted the most. God in His mercy loosed my hands and let me feel the lightness and freedom of trusting in Him, in His timing. Not having to know what's going to happen or control my future is such a freeing feeling.

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” - C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory
