I was summoned for Jury Duty today. It seems that Jury Duty has a very negative implication to it, and most people dread the idea. So I, too, came in with a resistant attitude towards the ordeal. Surprisingly enough, I ended up having fun experiencing something new. I've never been to a court house, and the one that I went to was really nice. The waiting area had a very comfortable atmosphere, and I didn't even have to wait very long. I was chosen to be a juror, but I was only an alternate juror therefore I did not take part in the final verdict. It was a cool experience for me, because I got to see all the legal procedures and hear their terminologies.
As a juror, I was supposed to come to a verdict just by the presented evidence. I had a little difficulty, because I naturally approached it the way I've gotten used to reading the Bible. I don't just read the text, instead I've learned to find out the context behind it. In my head I was asking questions that were outside what was presented in front of me. The jury doesn't really get to ask questions, so I had to keep dismissing those questions in my head.
Anyways, the worst part of Jury Duty was having to wake up super early. Other than that, it wasn't all that bad. Now, I get to look forward to my whopping $15 check that's coming in 6-8 weeks. woo!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." 2Cor.1:3-4
