Lately, I've been drowning
Lately, I've been sinking deeper and deeper, farther and farther away
I don't hear it anymore, the voice that used to be so assuring
I tried to catch up to that voice, but it wouldn't let me
I feel weary gasping for air
With these tired eyes that are amidst water
Water that overflows
My attempts to wipe it away leave me with soaked hands and arms
And a throbbing pang pulsating in my chest
The kindness of the great waters though
Is that it always washes you back to shore
